Our journey to VDI continues. This week, we had several more milestones on our road to delivering this solution into the far reaching corners of our area. Among those accomplishments were implementing the DHCP options successfully, setting up several pools of linked-clone virtual desktops and a wider testing of the Pano devices and their capabilites. (This is only an incremental update – see my prior post.)
I saw this is coming up, as it was posted on the VMware Blogs Announcing VMware View 3 Launch on December 2, 2008
VMware is launching its newly-announced end-to-end enterprise desktop solution, VMware View which includes VMware VDI, ThinApp, and View Composer. The sales sweet spot for partners is around selling into their existing VMware Infrastructure 3 install base, and drag opportunities that represent a potential 10X incremental revenue for services and hardware sold with VMware View licenses.
I have not had much of a chance to look at this product yet, but it looks like this is just the tip in the iceberg so to speak, I am sure we will see more of this and other new technologies to come in the next year from vmware.
